Difference Between Raster Scanning and Vector Scanning

Characteristics
Raster Scan
Vector Scan
Working
In raster scanning, the beam sweeps horizontally left-to-right at a steady rate, then blanks and rapidly moves back to the left, where it turns back on and sweeps out the next line. During this time, the vertical position is also steadily increasing (downward), but much more slowly – there is one vertical sweep per image frame, but one horizontal sweep per line of resolution.
In Vector scan The electron beam follows an arbitrary path tracing the connected sloped lines. The beam skips over dark areas of the image without visiting their points.
Refresh rate
60 to 80 frames per second.
Depends upon image to be drawn.

Image Drawing
Image is composed of glowing pixels.
Image is composed of drawn lines.
Can be used to draw complex drawings.
They can display only a shape’s outline.
Electron Beam
Electronic Beam is  directed to whole screen for drawing an image or object.
Electronic beam is directed to only part where image is to be drawn.
